Cabarrus County EMS - Ambulance Remount

Built for Cabarrus County EMS, this custom ETA remount gives their existing Type III ambulance module a renewed platform on a 2026 Ford E-450 4x2 chassis powered by Ford’s 7.3L gas engine. The project combines a complete module changeover with new chassis wiring, an ETA Type III console, undercoating, Grip Strut running boards and updated chassis components while strategically transferring existing equipment that remains suited for continued service.

The module receives an extensive exterior refresh designed to extend its service life and restore a clean, durable finish. Cabarrus selected an ETA-style rear bumper, new weatherstripping, stainless-steel corner guards, a new rear kick plate, silver exterior drip rail, refreshed wheel-well protection and Dri-Deck compartment flooring. The module will also be refinished in Ford chassis white, while the electrical package incorporates a Kussmaul 20-amp Super Auto Eject, transferred PCP/modular wiring and refreshed Whelen exterior lighting.

Inside, Cabarrus chose a combination of refreshed and upgraded components, including blue upholstery, stainless-steel risers at the squad bench and left wall, Gunmetal Lonplate flooring with new thresholds, a new red flip-up sharps lid, and updated attendant seating-including an EVS seat with an integrated child-safety 3-point harness. The patient compartment also receives a new Avanti 110/12V refrigerator and a stand-alone 12V A/C system, while existing components are retained where appropriate.

The result is a thoughtfully updated ambulance that preserves Cabarrus County EMS’s existing module investment while refreshing the areas that matter most for its next service life-chassis, exterior durability, patient-compartment finishes, seating, climate control and electrical functionality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can ETA help us plan multiple ambulance purchases or remounts?

Yes. ETA's range of new vehicles, remounts, and specialty vehicle solutions allows our team to work with departments on both immediate needs and longer-term fleet planning. Contact your ETA sales representative to discuss upcoming replacements, remount candidates, vehicle availability, and future purchasing needs.

Should we remount our current ambulance or buy a new ambulance?

The right answer depends on your module's condition, budget, desired configuration, timeline, and long-term fleet plan. For a suitable module, an ETA remount can offer approximately 30%-45% savings and a published turnaround of approximately 30-90 days. Departments needing an entirely new module or significantly different vehicle may be better served by a new ambulance. ETA can help compare the options before you make that decision.
