Ambulance Remounts
2026
D5500
Alton, VA
Built for Cluster Springs Fire Department, this custom ETA remount gives their existing 2005 Wheeled Coach ambulance module a new life on a 2026 RAM 5500 diesel 4x4 regular cab chassis. The new platform is equipped with LiquidSpring rear suspension, aluminum wheels, a Fab Fours full-replacement grille guard, Tremco ignition security, RC Tronics controls, backup camera, custom console and running boards—creating a modern and capable foundation for the department’s existing module.
The module receives an extensive exterior refresh with an ETA-style rear bumper, new fenderettes, silver drip rail, refreshed rub rails with black reflective tape, new kick plate and corner guards, black Dri-Deck compartment flooring, Raptor-lined compartments and updated paint and graphics. Cluster Springs also selected a comprehensive lighting upgrade featuring Whelen 900 and 600 Series LED warning lights, Whelen 900 Series scene/load lighting, updated ICC/DOT lighting and a seven-light Whelen front warning configuration, along with a new RC Tronics modular electrical system and Kussmaul Super Auto Eject shoreline.
Inside, the Wheeled Coach module is being refreshed with black upholstery, clear Lexan cabinet doors, Lonplate II Black Onyx flooring, new thresholds, refreshed Formica and an EVS attendant seat with integrated child-safety restraint. Additional upgrades include new LED cabinet and dome lighting, a Danhard 12V HVAC system, Vanner inverter/charger and installation of a Stryker PowerLOAD system. The result preserves the department’s existing module while modernizing the chassis, electronics, lighting, climate control, interior and overall appearance-extending its service life with a significantly updated platform for Cluster Springs Fire Department.
Key Features
Contact ETA or your territory sales representative with information about your department, current fleet, desired vehicle, budget, and anticipated timeline. From there, our team can help identify the appropriate remount, new ambulance, Type II, or specialty vehicle solution and guide you through the next steps.
The right answer depends on your module's condition, budget, desired configuration, timeline, and long-term fleet plan. For a suitable module, an ETA remount can offer approximately 30%-45% savings and a published turnaround of approximately 30-90 days. Departments needing an entirely new module or significantly different vehicle may be better served by a new ambulance. ETA can help compare the options before you make that decision.
A Type I ambulance uses a modular patient compartment mounted on a truck-style chassis. A Type II is a van-based ambulance, such as ETA's Ford Transit 350-based High Ground Conversion. A Type III uses a modular patient compartment on a cutaway van chassis. ETA offers solutions across all three categories.
