Dorchester County EMS - Type I Ambulance Remount
This Type I ambulance remount for Dorchester County EMS combines the reliability of a brand-new 2026 RAM 4500 Crew Cab chassis with the proven value of remounting an existing patient module. The project includes a complete chassis integration with new underhood electrical, updated wiring, frame preparation, and a new body mounting system to deliver OEM-level performance and long-term durability. Ride quality is enhanced with a LiquidSpring® rear suspension, while the cab receives upgraded electronics integration, Havis console components, Tremco ignition security, OEM backup camera, and additional USB charging for improved operator functionality.
The exterior was comprehensively refreshed with a full module preparation, new ETA rear bumper, updated weather sealing, new aluminum tread plate components, CAST Products hardware, fresh fuel fill components, and a complete basecoat/clearcoat refinish matched to the new chassis. New ETA graphics complete the build with a clean, professional appearance designed to serve the department for years to come.
Emergency warning and scene lighting were modernized using Whelen® 400, 500, 600, and 900 Series LED lighting, paired with a Kussmaul 20-Amp Super Auto Eject shoreline, Whelen dual-tone siren, and Feniex 100-watt speakers for dependable visibility, power management, and response readiness. Existing critical electrical systems and vehicle electronics were professionally transferred, tested, and integrated throughout the remount process.
Inside the patient compartment, the module received significant upgrades including a Valor attendant seat with a 5-point harness, new clear LEXAN cabinet doors, LonPlate II Gun Metal flooring, EVS swivel/slide seat base, refreshed upholstery, replacement hardware and trim, and a fully detailed and sanitized finish before delivery. Climate control was upgraded with a Danhard 12-volt HVAC system, underbody condenser, and an Engel MT-17 temperature-controlled cooler, creating a durable, functional workspace built to support EMS crews on every call.
By remounting onto a new chassis while incorporating premium components from trusted manufacturers including LiquidSpring®, Whelen®, Kussmaul®, Havis®, Feniex®, Danhard®, Engel®, EVS®, and CAST Products, this project extends fleet life, reduces replacement costs, and delivers a dependable ambulance that is ready for years of frontline service.
Key Features
Yes. ETA's range of new vehicles, remounts, and specialty vehicle solutions allows our team to work with departments on both immediate needs and longer-term fleet planning. Contact your ETA sales representative to discuss upcoming replacements, remount candidates, vehicle availability, and future purchasing needs.
The right answer depends on your module's condition, budget, desired configuration, timeline, and long-term fleet plan. For a suitable module, an ETA remount can offer approximately 30%-45% savings and a published turnaround of approximately 30-90 days. Departments needing an entirely new module or significantly different vehicle may be better served by a new ambulance. ETA can help compare the options before you make that decision.
Contact ETA or your territory sales representative with information about your department, current fleet, desired vehicle, budget, and anticipated timeline. From there, our team can help identify the appropriate remount, new ambulance, Type II, or specialty vehicle solution and guide you through the next steps.
