Ambulance Remounts
2026
Ford
Mount Sterling, KY
Built for Montgomery County Fire EMS, this Type I remount gives their existing Horton ambulance module a renewed platform on a customer-supplied Ford F-550 chassis. The project includes a complete chassis demount and remount process with new chassis electrical wiring, LiquidSpring rear suspension, a new RC Tronics switch panel system, InPower automatic disconnect, Steel Tech console, black Grip Strut running boards and a Buck Stop replacement bumper. Additional chassis upgrades include 35% window tint, ground lighting, a remote-controlled Go Light, dash camera and WeatherTech floor mats and window deflectors.
The Horton module receives an extensive exterior refresh focused on durability, appearance and functionality. Montgomery County selected a complete Type I-to-Type I changeover with a new mounting system, new weatherstripping, blacked-out tread plate corner guards, custom rear kick plate with customer logo, black rubber rub rails, new fenderettes and an ETA-style rear bumper with lighted logos. The compartments will receive new Dri-Deck flooring and Raptor liner, while new rotary latches, Trimark door handles, a Zico O2 lift, electric entry step and updated exterior hardware further refresh the module.
The exterior lighting package is also being comprehensively updated with Whelen 600, 700 and 900 Series lighting, new scene and load lights, underbody lighting, grille lights, door panel lighting and reverse/dock lights. The electrical system receives a new RC Tronics circuit board system and 20-amp Kussmaul Auto Eject shoreline, while the module will be refinished to match the chassis and receive new customer-selected graphics.
Inside, Montgomery County selected a refreshed patient compartment featuring red upholstery, Gunmetal LonPlate II flooring, an EVS attendant seat with child-safety feature, new cabinet hinges and updated LED lighting throughout the interior. The remount also receives a new Danhard 12-volt HVAC system and underbody condenser, expanded inverter protection, dedicated action and telemetry lighting, red-and-white cabinet lighting and additional storage and equipment provisions. The result is a thoroughly refreshed Type I remount that preserves Montgomery County Fire EMS’s existing Horton module while updating the chassis, electrical systems, exterior durability, lighting, climate control and patient-compartment finishes for its next service life.

The right answer depends on your module's condition, budget, desired configuration, timeline, and long-term fleet plan. For a suitable module, an ETA remount can offer approximately 30%-45% savings and a published turnaround of approximately 30-90 days. Departments needing an entirely new module or significantly different vehicle may be better served by a new ambulance. ETA can help compare the options before you make that decision.
ETA brings multiple emergency vehicle solutions together under one roof. With ambulance remounts, factory-direct Frazer vehicles, High Ground Conversion Type II ambulances, QRVs, supervisor and chief vehicles, vehicle accessories, custom fabrication and design, financing, and emergency vehicle inventory, departments aren't limited to a one-size-fits-all solution. ETA combines more than 45 years of team experience with a customer-focused approach designed to help agencies find the right vehicle for their mission and budget.
A Type I ambulance uses a modular patient compartment mounted on a truck-style chassis. A Type II is a van-based ambulance, such as ETA's Ford Transit 350-based High Ground Conversion. A Type III uses a modular patient compartment on a cutaway van chassis. ETA offers solutions across all three categories.
